There is no such thing as a perfect room. But with the right budget, some headache inducing maths and a willing buider you can get close. Of course with a home studio project like mine the idea of having anything resempling the necessary budget (in this economy?) is laughable. So maybe I won't be able to build the perfect room - but there are ways to build as gooder a room as possible.

Originally I had the idea to buy and old house and renovate it - but given the need to have your house reinforced to protect against earthquakes here in Japan that turned out to be more expensive than simply building a room from scratch. And it turns out building a room from the ground up has huge advantages if you're hoping to make the room as acoustically fit for use as possible.

But wait, hold up there. What do you mean my fit for use? Surely a room is a room is a room. Get a decent set of speakers and that's you sorted. Time to make hits like Yard Act. Would that it were so simple.
